“When we read about Blackshaw in Essential Marbella magazine, we thought this could be the answer we were looking for to our problem, which was to modernise our traditional but rather tired Andalusian style villa and garden making it a home we could use all year round.

 

On the meeting with Sally, what really impressed us, was how quickly she understood what we were looking for. We gave her our ‘wish list’ and together with her lovely team she got to work producing designs and drawings for both interior and exterior that just blew us away. This was obviously going to be quite a big building and renovation project and Sally and her team were brilliant at preparing and producing a quote to meet our budget and overseeing all the works. Over the next six months our ‘wish list’ became reality and now we have a beautiful contemporary home full of light and a stunning garden which blends the contemporary style with the traditional garden which we love. “After many months of searching we found our perfect villa in Las Brisas, Marbella. We fell in love with the beautiful, mature and very private garden and the size of the property was just right for our second home. You could instantly see that it had been a well-maintained and well-loved family home, but having been built in the 1980’s was in need of a complete refurbishment to bring it back to life. While we wanted to create a modern space that worked for our lifestyle, we also wanted to retain the essence of the original building and not lose the heart of what we fell in love with. We completed the purchase in February 2014 and wanted to be able to use it by the end of June 2014, but also didn’t want to rush and compromise the quality of the work done. This was going to be a huge challenge to whoever we chose for the job.

 

We met Sally a couple of times and she showed us some of her recently completed properties and then she took us to her showroom where she had already started to put together some ideas. We were instantly impressed that she seemed to understand completely what we needed and sensed our style completely. Plans were presented to us that showed us exactly what we could expect and no detail was left out from reforming the pool, to the piped underfloor heating and log burning fires.

 

As we live in Scotland we also needed a company that we could trust to get on with the job without cutting corners, and meet the very tight deadlines so we could be in the house within 4 months, and Sally clearly had the drive to deliver this right from first meeting. Over the 4 months our house was taken back to the bare shell and put back together again and the result is absolutely stunning. It is a beautiful, open, bright, modern space that every time we walk into it we fall in love all over again.

 

The whole team at Blackshaw were fantastic to work with and after the initial meeting to decide the main design, I only visited the site one other time in 4 months. Sally and her team completely managed everything, including the delivery of our possessions that had been in storage, the ‘stress’ I was expecting in doing such a large project from overseas simply never happened. I am sure that wasn’t the case for Sally but she never passed any of it onto us! We arrived late at night (with no luggage as it had all gone missing!) at the end of June 2014 on the date we had set at the start, to a house that was simply stunning and literally ready to move into that night, all we needed was our missing luggage! As a Blackshaw client you are not just forgotten about as soon as the project is finished and even now two years later, if I contact them for anything, nothing is too much trouble, I would recommend them to anyone looking to create a beautiful home.”
